Getting Along - Time for a new approach to dementia care - Facilitators Training

Memory Matters are delighted to announce this one off course run by Damian Murphy from Innovations In Dementia CIC

This one day course will be of special interest to anybody from any sector working in or commissioning services for people with dementia and their carers in a community setting.

Aims of the Course:

Understand the broad impact of the presence of a dementia within a family and the network of relationships around it
Have examined simple methods to observe interactions within the informal care-giving setting
Be able to reflect upon the content and impact of their own contact with families living in the presence of a dementia
Gain confidence to respond to antagonisms within relationships
Be able to address and have a clearer understanding of both sides of the care giving relationship
Begin to adopt strategies and implement plans to equip people with dementia and their families live well and better, with dementia
Be familiar with the practicalities of delivering a formal Getting Along Programme.
