Activity Workers

Memory Matters Activity Workers are trained in understanding dementia and the use of therapeutic approaches to dementia.

An Activity Worker can be booked by the hour to spend time with a person living with dementia or be booked to work with clients in care homes or hospitals. They will use this time to develop a therapeutic relationship and offer activities that are tailored specifically for that person.

Memory Matters Activity Workers use therapeutic, evidence-based approaches to working with people with dementia, including Validation, Creative Activity, Reality Orientation, Socialisation, Physical Exercise to name but a few.

Activity Workers are able to visit people at home whether they are living independently or in a care home where specific individual activity needs are to be met. This can be funded privately, by Social Services or Health Funds. Some people pay for their activity worker using their direct payments or personal budgets. You can find out about how to access this here.

If you would be interested in having an activity worker contact us and we can have an informal chat about your needs.

If you decide you would like to go ahead a manager will come and visit you in your home and carry out a free, one hour assessment of your activity needs. Together with you and people who care for you if appropriate, we will formulate an activity plan that your activity worker will support you in.
